Hello and welcome! We are so grateful for your visit.
Today we are sharing a masculine birthday card. Masculine cards always seem to be more challenging for us to create, but we knew that the recipient of this card is a beer-lover, so we used that information as the starting point for our design. We searched through our stash to see if we had anything that we could use and found a stamp set by Hedgehog Hollow that had a row of drinking glasses. So here is how we pulled this card together:
Focal Point:
- We found free clipart line drawings of a beer bottle and beer mug online, sized them and printed them on a laser printer
- The images were colored with copic markers and fussy cut
- The word “Happy” was cut from black cardstock three times and the letters to spell “Beer” were cut from brown cardstock three times. Each was stacked and glued on top of each other building dimension and strength
Background Panel:
- We cut an A2 sized panel from 80# white cardstock. Since the stamp with drinking glasses did not span the full width of the panel, we used our stamping platform and shifted the cardstock so the image could be stamped repeatedly in order to create one full row. Then we repeated that process to create several rows until the card panel was filled
- The glasses were colored with copic markers to resemble beer
- A wonky stitched rectangle die was used to cut down the panel slightly
Card Assembly:
- Black cardstock was used to mat the card panel which was then adhered to a brown piece of cardstock measuring 4.25″x5.5″
- A fishtail banner was cut from Vellum. The sentiment and beer bottle image were adhered to the banner with liquid glue. The beer mug was adhered using foam adhesive for added dimension
- The finished card panel was adhered to a side-folding card base cut from 120# white cardstock measuring 4.25″x5.5″
Finishing Touches:
- Glossy accents were added to the clipart images
